Project Time Calculator

Umesh Manral: Business Analyst, Excel VBA Automation Expert and Web Developer

The person behind Project Time Calculator, and why it was built: to track daily project tasks and save time.

I am Umesh Manral. I work as a Business Analyst, I build automation with Excel VBA, and I develop web applications. Project Time Calculator is a tool I made for my own daily project work, and I publish it so other people can use the same calculators for free.

What I do

Why I built this tool

I created Project Time Calculator to track my daily project tasks. Every day I needed quick answers to the same small questions: how long was that task, how many hours did I work this week, what is left on the plan and what finish date does that give me. Doing them by hand or in a spreadsheet cost time and invited small mistakes, such as reading 7:30 as 7.30 hours.

So I put the formulas into calculators that I could open, fill in and trust. They help me, and they save me time. Because other analysts, project managers and students ask the same questions, I made them public and added the formulas and worked examples so anyone can check the result.

The tools I use most

These cover the daily routine of tracking tasks and planning what is left:

The full list is on the home page, and the about page explains what the site is and is not.

How the calculators are kept correct

Each formula has an automated test, and the numbers in every worked example are checked against the calculator code before the site is published. The methodology page lists the formulas and their assumptions. The calculators do not track your time for you, store projects or ask for an account: they calculate what you type and nothing else.

Corrections and questions

If a result looks wrong, send the inputs through the contact page. Confirmed errors are fixed and added to the tests so they cannot return.
